Very rare low res tarmac view of Boeing 747-130 D-ABYB Cn 19747 at Don Muang Airport Bangkok VTBD, taken on my first trip on a Boeing 747 on 07Feb1974. The man in front of the JT-9D engine shows how large the aircraft is, compared to the faithful Boeing 707. The B747 took me from Frankfurt to Hong Kong via Athens, Kuwait, Delhi and Bangkok. D-ABYB (City of Hessen) was the first Civil Boeing 747 to crash - on 20Nov1974 at Nairobi Airport Kenya, sadly with the loss of 59 lives (RIP). Apologies for the quality of this 1974 photo.
