Rare low res Wing View from Boeing 747-130 D-ABYB Cn 19747 at Athens Hellinikon Airport (LGAT), taken on my first trip on a Boeing 747 on 06Feb1974. A cargo door is open (below), and baggage is being handled manually. On the apron, beyond the Pratt & Whitney JT-9D engines is a Swissair DC-8. The B747 was taking me from Frankfurt to Hong Kong via Athens, Kuwait, Delhi and Bangkok. D-ABYB (City of Hessen, Del: 13Apr1970) was the first Civil Boeing 747 to crash - on 20Nov1974 at Nairobi Airport Kenya, sadly with the loss of 59 lives (RIP).
