Close-cropped rear view of RAAF 5 Squadron UH-1D Iroquois A2-510 Cn 9510 Code 510 accelerating with nose low while departing LZ Blue, Mt Byron, Queensland with an external sling load on 09Sep1969. A2-510 (and A2-509) were carrying out re-supply tasks (using the external cargo hook) during Exercise ‘Fix-Fast’. The Huey deployment was training Australian Army troops in helicopter operations, before their posting to South Vietnam. Iroquois A2-510 was acquired through US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) ex US Army 67-17312. Delivered Feb 1968 to 5 Squadron Canberra as a UH-1D and later Upgraded to UH-1H. (Ref: ADF-Serials).
