If you are looking for photos of a specific aircraft type, use this menu. Please note that, due to space constraints, this menu includes only some of the more requested aircraft in our database.
If the aircraft you're searching for is not in this list, use the 'Keywords' field further down in the search menus.
Some menu selections include a generic aircraft model, as well as more specific variants of that airliner.
These variants are denoted by a - before the aircraft name.
Selecting 'Boeing 747,' for example, will show results featuring all Boeing 747 jetliners in our database, while selecting '- Boeing 747-200' will show all Boeing 747-200 variants in our database (Boeing 747-200, Boeing 747-212B, Boeing 747-283F, etc.)
If you are looking for photos of a specific airline, use this menu.
Please note that, due to space constraints, this menu includes only airlines of which 10 or more photos exist in our database.
If the airline you're searching for is not in this list, use the 'Keywords' field further down in the search menu.
Airlines are listed in alphabetical order.
If you are looking for photos taken in a specific country, or at a specific airport, use this menu.
All countries represented in our database are included in this selection menu, which is updated automatically as the database grows.
There must be at least 20 photos from a specific airport in the database before that airport is added to this list.
Use this option to include only photos taken by a specific photographer in your search.
This pulldown menu, in addition to each photographer available as a search limiter, also shows the number of photos currently in the database for each specific photographer, enclosed in brackets.
For example, an option of: - Paul Jones .. indicates that there are 550 total photos taken by Paul Jones currently in the database.
Note: The total number of photos, enclosed in brackets, is updated four (4) times hourly, and may be slightly inaccurate.
Photographers must have 100 or more photos in the database before their name is included in this selection menu.. The 'All Photographers' selection is the default selection for this option.
If you are looking for a specific category of photo, use this menu.
You may select to display only photos from certain categories, such as Special Paintschemes, Flight Deck photos, etc. New categories are constantly being added to this list.
The 'Keywords' field is perhaps the most useful field included in our search engine. Using this field, you may search for any word, term, or combinations of terms in our database. Every photo field is covered by the Keywords search routine.
The Keywords field is ideal for searching for such specifics as aircraft registrations, photographers' names, specific airport/city names, specific paintschemes (i.e. 'Wunala Dreaming'), etc. To use the Keywords field, begin by selecting a Keyworld search field. You may select either a specific database field (airline, aircraft, etc.), or choose to match your keyword to all database fields.
Next, select a Keyword limiter. There are three options from which to choose: - is exactly - starts with - contains Select the appropriate limiter for your search, then enter the keyword(s) you wish to search in the box on the right.
The Keywords search field is not case-sensitive.
Use this option to include only photos taken in a specific year in your search.
This pulldown menu, in addition to each year available as a search limiter, also shows the number of photos currently in the database for each specific year, enclosed in brackets. For example, an option of: - 2003 .. indicates that there are 55,000 total photos taken in the year 2003 currently in the database. *Note: The total number of photos, enclosed in brackets, is updated four (4) times hourly, and may be slightly inaccurate.
Additionally, decade ranges (1990-1999, etc.) are available as selections in this menu. Selecting a decade range will show all photos matching your other search criteria from the selected decade. The 'All Years' selection is the default selection for this option.
Note: I really love these morning surprises at Cascais. As I was parking my car in the parking lot, I eared something out of the usual. It gave me time to grab my camera and take a couple of shoots! This registration used to belong to a Citation...
Note: Such an amazing Christmas present! "VDA6526" is seen here landing on runway 33 after a long flight from Russia (URRR). It departed the next day inbound Venezuela (SVBL). It's impressive to see all of those 20 wheels smoking as the plane...
Note: One of the most strange and original paint jobs I've ever seen on a general aviation aircraft! This old Cardinal (built in 1976) was seen at Cascais aerodrome during the UEFA final championship and this picture was taken when they were...
Note: Amazing departure by "ReachDQ1" from runway 15 at full blast!! The high winds (around 20 to 30kts) also helped the mighty 747 rotate a bit early. You can also notice the work in progress in the airport vicinity.
Note: About to land at Graciosa after a short flight from Lajes, This was the very last day that the ATP would be flying commercially for SATA Air Açores, unfortunately! After a quick stop we would be flying back to Terceira island and...
Note: One of the four Agusta's from the Belgium Air Force seen here departing for a night mission during Hot Blade 2012 - Spotter's Day! I love the way the long exposure lets us see the real size of the rotors.
Note: Amazing surprise at Horta airport. This 1979 MU-2 came all the way from St. John's (CYYT) and was seen here resting on the apron before continuing their flight. For what I know, the last known location of this aircraft was in Africa.
Note: Great surprise at Ponta Delgada airport and in such a good parking position for night spotting. This B737 was initially delivered in 1990 to Philippine Airlines and was seen in the Azores coming from Lisbon as 'MLT815' and departing the...
Note: This was one of the 20 new Caravan's ordered by Joy General Aviation, and was seen in Portimão on the ferry flight, inbound China for delivery. This was a temporary registration, since it was changed to B-10FW. Unfortunately, it crashed...
Note: One of my favorite pictures of this trip to Heathrow. This airport is great for those who are looking to get lots of new registrations but it's not my favorite for photographing. Picture taken inside BA flight to Lisbon. This B747 is now...
Note: One of the last aircraft we photographed in good conditions! And we were really lucky since Air Europa only had two B767s! This one was stored a year later, then went to Transaero Airlines in 2015 and in 2016 was leased to Condor (D-ABUO).
Note: Another impressive airplane at Lajes. This beauty was delivered to the USAF in 1944 as 43-48248 and was later converted to a Basler, meaning new turbo-prop P&W engines, improved avionics and an airframe strengthening! Coming in from St....
Note: "NAVY PR410" came from Spain in the beginning of October and should have left in the same day. But the crew realized that the engine #1 was not working properly and they spent the next days trying to work it out! This was a test flight...
Note: This was the surprise of that day at Cascais aerodrome (don't you love when these kind of airplanes show all of the sudden overhead you?). This beautiful Golden Eagle was built in 1978 and as been flying in the USA. Seen just after...
Note: This beauty belongs to Aeroplano, but was being used by IFA as an advanced single engine trainer. Seen here departing runway 35 with my good friend Tiago Faustino as the pilot in command, inbound ESP for another lesson.
