A very rare visitor for SFO. A Norwegian flight from ARN-OAK was to be operated many hours behind schedule by this EuroAtlantic 767, but the dispatchers and pilots missed a NOTAM that runway 30\12 at OAK, the only runway suitable for a 767 to land on, would be closed well prior to the delayed arrival. Upon checking in with Oakland Center, the pilots were asked for their intentions, and elected to divert to SFO with very short notice around 0300L. A ground crew was found to park the aircraft, but the luggage was left onboard and as Norwegian did not fly to SFO at the time, so the pax wondered the terminal aimlessly for hours with no public transport running either at that hour. Meanwhile in OAK, the staff had feared the aircraft crashed as it never arrived! It sat on the gate at SFO for half a day and then ferried to OAK the next afternoon with everyone's bags on board. What a mess, but I suppose that is the risk with budget airlines!
