The world's only 'Dart-Stang' parked at Canberra Airport YSCB in August 1978. The Dart exhaust is visible in this photo (also note F-86 drop tanks, and the missing tailplane elevator trim tabs). The CAC CA-18 Mk 21 Mustang, ex RAAF A68-187, was owned by Hockey Treloar who replaced the Rolls Royce Merlin engine with a Rolls Royce Dart (as used in Viscount airliners). The Modified Mustang failed to achieve Civil Certification, and she was later returned to Standard fit and sold to USA as N919WJ. This aircraft was displayed in 2007 as a TF-51D, Registered NL50FS (Code TF-839) at Columbus- Rickenbacker Int. Airport, Columbus Ohio (KLCK). The aircraft was then Named 'Su Su II', and later 'La Pistolera' when used in Reno Air Races.
