Aer Lingus began a DUB-MSP route in June, 2019 using Boeing 757-200s operated by ASL Airlines. The route was selected specifically for the new A321LRs that Aer Lingus expected to have in time for the first flight, but the 757s were used due to delivery delays. The route did well, and was upgauged to A330-200s for a few weeks and was due to again be upgauged in the summer of 2020. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic and associated travel restrictions combined with the end of the ASL Airlines 757 contract, MSP was first suspended along with most other US destinations in April 2020, then the airline announced that flights would not resume. Very sad that this route only lasted a few months, and I hope to see Aer Lingus return in a few years when they have the proper equipment and demand. Here is an ASL 757 arriving from DUB in the golden summer evening light. The flight was pre-cleared by customs in DUB and parked on the C Concourse.
