Notes:

[1400px] Ultra rare catch at Fortaleza! Probably more than 20 years since we last saw a DC-3 coming in. This rare DC-3C "Turbo Dak" was manufactured in 1945 as a C-47 Dakota for USAF. Post-War, it was used by civilian operators in the UK before ending up in Africa. At some point, she was fitted with PT6 turboprop engines, giving this veteran a new breath of life! After 12 years stored at Lanseria (South Africa), the DC-3 was bought by Missionary Flights International, a Florida-based religious organization specialized in relief/humanitarian flights. The DC-3 was prepared to be airborne again and finally took off from South Africa for the journey to the United States. Seen here on short finals to Fortaleza runway 13, finishing their flight across the pond from Praia, Cape Verde. Fortaleza airport served as one of the fuel stops during the ferry flight. Simply amazing to see an airworthy DC-3 in 2017!
