During the last day of the Warbirds Over Wanaka (WOW) airshow on 01Apr2018, Avro 625A Anson Mk1 ZK-RRA Cn MH-120 nominally ‘shot-down’ John Romain’s Buchon G-AWHK at Wanaka Airport NZWF, when the Buchon strayed in front of the Anson. Dave Phillips was pleased to have scored a victory over the fighter, and proceeded to ‘tie a bow’ with the Anson’s smoke trail after passing through a large smoke ring over the airfield. (The ‘Pyro Guys’ skilfully converted a fire-ball into a large, long lasting smoke ring.)
