13Jun2021 Update: Three USA Registration ‘options’ for TB252 were checked today by Searching the USA FAA Civil (‘November’) Registry: Registration N7252TB was an invalid listing, having more than 5 Characters (following the ‘N’). Registration N752TB ‘is Assigned’: to VICKERS SUPERMARINE LTD SPITFIRE LF XVI E Serial No TB252, Owned by SOMERS CHARLES, of Hillsboro Washington. Registration N252TB ‘is Assigned’ to Mooney M20K Cn 25-1110 based in Aspen Colorado. (The obvious USA Reg for TB252 is already Assigned.) Hence, FAA Registration N752TB is Confirmed as Correct, along with the entry on the Instrument Panel placard.
This aircraft was USA Registered as ‘N7252TB’ in 2002, and was exported to New Zealand for restoration. I uploaded this 2017 image against original RAF Serial TB252, but some-one changed the Registration to incorrect entry ‘N752TB’ – taking the Number from a small black placard on the instrument panel. It looks like the Number was shortened by omission of a ‘2’ in order to fit the Text: ‘MAXIMUM SPEEDS N752TB’ in the placard width. The Correct USA Registration was ‘N7252TB’. Registration Correction attempted, but not successful. Database Correction by JP Crew is Requested.
