Notes:

[1920px] The most interesting aircraft sat in Évora airfield, a complete relic in Portugal and in the rest of the World since there are already a quite few of these around. This frame was constructed in 1957 and was ferried from the United States to Madrid as EC-WMR. It was Iberia’s first Convair 440 Metropolitan – named Cibeles – and became EC-AMR in the same month (since EC-W** was used only for ferry flights). It was sold to the Spanish Air Force in October 1972, coded T.14-1 / 911-01 (and later 911-21), where it had flown during 8 years. In 1980 it was stored at Seville. It was registered XA-LUS operating for Instatl de Aviación in August 1981, and reportedly sold in USA on April 1982. Some years later, in 1996 it was sold to SOTIP SA (a sheet metal company with offices in France and Tunisia) with Equatorial Guinea registration assigned. In April 1997, it was reported to be sold to an Iberia B747 pilot. The aircraft was ferried to LPEV for maintenance works but was withdrawn from use in June 1997 and have been abandoned. Nowadays, it can be seen in this airfield, sadly in derelict condition with all the parts of the aircraft (fuselage, gear, rudder, engines/props) in very poor state. A real shame but something not uncommon in Portugal, unfortunately.
