The 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan in Vietnam in 1966 was Commemorated in Canberra on Long Tan Day - 18Aug2016. The Ceremony was complemented by Flypasts of aircraft relevant to the Australian and US participation in the Vietnam War. Aircraft which participated in the Flypasts were an RAAF C-130J-30, two C-47s, two Caribou, a Cessna O-2, a Bell UH-1H Huey and a Bell 47G-3B1 Sioux, followed by two USAF B-52Hs from Guam. The first Caribou, HARS DHC-4A Caribou VH-VBA (ex RAAF A4-210) Cn 210 (wearing a 35 Sqn Kangaroo tail logo) passes Mt Ainslie after the second pass over the Ceremony on Anzac Parade. No 35 Squadron was ‘First-In’ and ‘Last-Out’, of the RAAF Units involved in the Vietnam conflict.
