Notes:

The original wartime layout of Tocumwal, once the largest aerodrome in the Southern Hemisphere, can still be clearly seen. Built in record time in the dark days of February 1942 as a USAAF bomber base for the inland defence of Australia and named McIntyre Field, it originally covered 8 square miles. Taken over by the RAAF in Nov 42 and used as a Liberator OTU. Post-war used as a collection point for the scrapping of many surplus RAAF aircraft.
