First (ex-) RAAF C-130 to crash. RAAF 37 Squadron C-130H A97-005 Cn 382-4785 did a Farewell flypast over Canberra on Friday 23Nov2012, before Retirement. [Image Vertical Centering looks unbalanced - but Nose-Centering was mandatory.]
The aircraft flew over Mt Ainslie, Anzac Parade, doing a half-orbit around New Parliament House, and back over the Australian War Memorial. The aircraft’s Special Livery was a Tail Logo, showing a Hercules flying into a Sunset, after 34 years Service. Aircraft shown passing Capital Hill, heading North. Note the person’s face visible in the rear (para) door, and the photographer on the flight deck.
Footnote: The RAAF C-130H fleet was Retired by 30Nov2012, and A97-005 was accepted by Indonesia Air Force (TNI-AU) in Feb 2016 and given Serial A-1334. Sadly, this aircraft crashed on landing approach to Wanamon, Papua, on 16Dec2016 and all 13 people on board died.
