Indra, the company number 1 in Spain and one of the principal ones of Europe, is employed at the development of a new light aircraft of maritime vigilance at collaboration with the manufacturer of aircraft Italian Tecnam, and the companies Galilean SELEX, FLIR Systems and the installer Airborne Tecnologies. These five partners have been marked as to develop a plane that offers the capacities of vigilance most advanced to the most competitive cost of acquisition and operation. The aircraft will be prepared to recover missions of rescue, protection of the fishing fleet, protection of the environment and vigilance of persons illegal traffic and drugs. It will be ready to enter service at the end of 2012. To develop a solution of these characteristics there has been selected the platform P2006T of Tecnam. This twin-engined light plane is very easy to pilot and conventional fuel uses, which cheapens enormously the cost of the operation. It needs in addition a minimal maintenance and can take off and landing in not conventional runways. The plane will be capable of monitoring the area placed between 50 and 200 nautical miles.
