Notes:

This Kingfisher was the U.S. Navy’s primary ship-based scout and observation aircraft during WWII. Most of these airplanes operated in Pacific doing rescue missions. In March 1942 this airplane was assigned to battleship USS Indiana. Lt. j.g. Rollin M. Batten Jr. was awarded the Navy Cross for making a dangerous rescue in this very airplane under heavy enemy fire on July 4, 1944. Now on the display at the Udvar Hazy Museum.
