Notes:

This was a very special occasion for Newcastle airport! The 75th anniversary celebrations saw visits from several interesting aircraft and this is possibly the most impressive. BA operated a 747 on one of their round trips from Heathrow and it was quite an experience to fly on such a large aircraft from such a small airport. My previous shortest flight on a 747 was around 1.5 hours in Japan, but this beat it by almost an entire hour as we were in the air for only around 30 minutes! Boarding on stairs gives a true impression of just how big the 747 is, and this rather 'different' view gives a view of engines No.1 and 2 mounted on that truly massive wing. Boarding on stairs like this didn't just show just how big the 747 is, it also reaffirmed my belief that she truly is the most stunningly beautiful passenger airliner in the world.

Great shot Paul! and excellent write up. I was standing in the field where the Dash 8's Tail crosses and was a witness to this aircraft departing NCL, fantastic sight to see!
