Notes:

Rare image of an Royal Air Force Handley Page Victor K1A 'Aerial Tanker' Aircraft overflying RAAF Laverton (with three English Electric Lightning F6 fighters following the Air-Air Refuelling drogues) during the RAAF's 50th Anniversary Air Display at Laverton in 1971. The Tanker and Lightnings flew from RAAF Edinburgh in South Australia for the flypast. The 1000 mile round trip would have required multiple Air to Air refuels for the thirsty Lightnings, which had two Rolls Royce Avon engines (with Re-Heat). The RAAF had to wait until 1990 to get AAR capability - on its ex-Qantas Boeing 707s. Low res photo. Apologies for the quality of this 1971 photo.
