The XT8E Observer was created as Luscombe's answer to the Aeronca L-16A in the 1947 US Army liason aircraft competition. The Aeronca aircraft won, and Luscombe then went on to market the T8F Observer as a pipeline patrol aircraft. Of the 73 built, this is one of only a handful which remain airworthy.
