Rare photo of near-new TAA DC-9-31 VH-TJU at the new Melbourne Tullamarine Airport in 1972. Named 'John Roe' VH-TJU was the last DC-9 acquired by TAA (Del: 14Oct1971). She was Sold to Airborne Express as N942AX on 30Nov1989. (VH-TJU collided with a Fuel Tanker while taxying at Brisbane Airport on 28Sep86, damaging 2 metres of the Port wing at the wingtip.) My first flight in a TAA DC-9 was in VH-TJP, from Mascot Sydney to Essendon Melbourne on 29Apr1970. Registration VH-TJU was also used on a Qantas Boeing 737-476. Low res photo.
