Rare Airport Overview showing the first Boeing 747 to arrive in Australia in daylight (on 07Oct1970), at the new Sydney International Airport terminal, which was Officially Opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 03May1970. New Pan Am B747-121 N741PA Cn 19648 (Clipper Kit Carson) is surrounded by Pan Am and Qantas B707s and DC-8s. The Air New Zealand DC-8-52 in the foreground is ZK-NZE, while the KLM DC-8-55 is PH-DCV. The first Boeing 747 arrival at YSSY was Pan Am B747-121 N734PA, which arrived at night on 04Oct1970 (9.5 hours late), three days before this photo was taken. WOW! The good old days of flying, Outdated aircrafts, liveries, etc... Let's hope Pan Am will be resurrected and fly to Down Under again along with KLM!! I know, I'm feeling way too optimistic today! :)
