The Dominie originated as the military version of the De Havilland Jet Dragon; it entered service at RAF Stradishall, Suffolk, in 1965 and remains as the RAF’s rear crew trainer with 55 Sqn here at Cranwell 42 years later. Spares are increasingly difficult to source, and maintenance contractor Serco makes valiant efforts to keep them airworthy. Many thanks to friend and colleague John Mandall for arranging access to the hangars. (400D, Sigma 28-300 & fluid-head tripod)
