For the first time since the 1940s, the Royal Air Force now has a close-combat air-superiority fighter that is the equal of (if not better than) anything in the world. 3 and 29 Squadrons at RAF Coningsby are well into developing their capabilities and Flt Lt Jim Walls of 29 Sqn gave a spectacular (and deafening) display at the Kemble Air Day in this two-seater, seen here on its landing run with its brake chute deployed.
