This Aircraft a 'D' version has been configured to appear as a 'B', also displaying ficticious reg. #40-2344 is part of a life size diorama depicting the flight deck of the USS Hornet in preparation for the attack on Tokyo by the "Doolittle Raiders" on 04/18/1942. Gen. Jimmy Doolittle can be seen standing on the flight deck in conversation with a Naval Officer from the "Hornet". A/C has been restored, preserved and displayed at the National Museum of the USAF.
