The history of this heliport is the history of a managerial disaster. AC copters wanted to make use of the arrival to the city of Lleida of the high speed train from Madrid. And from there taking the passengers in helicopter up to the ski resorts of the Aran valley. But they faced different problems. 1) The high speed train was not as fast as expected. 2) It was not allowed to flight at Lleida downtown. 3) The helicopter operation in Alfés was prohibited due to enviromental reasons (but they costructed the heliport...) And finally they suspended operations before renting any helicopter to made that scheduled service. A real disaster.

Puigcerdà Heliport was included in the Catalan Government heliport & helistop program, to have at least a right place for helicopter operations in every county (known here as 'comarca') due to its placement, quite away from everything, and very close to a general aviation aerodrome with its own heliport (La Cerdanya-LECD) up to now, this heliport is a quite exotic place to land
