ACF was originally owned by Air France (80%) and by Air Inter (20%), established in 1966 as SAFA - Société Aérienne Francaise d'Affretement. Then it adopted the name Air Charter International (ACI) in 1970, and became simply Air Charter in 1984. Its own aircraft fleet consisted of 4 B727s but it leased other equipment from various carriers such as parent Air France & Air Inter, EAS - Europe Air Services, Euralair International or TAT. Some were operated in full Air Charter livery while others were flown in hybrid liveries.
