One of two specially created planes for transporting soviet shuttle "Buran" and large elements of "Energiya" rocket from plants to launch pad. Converted from 3MN-2 (Bison-B) strategic bomber and first flew in April 1982. This aircraft is fitted with "3GT" payload which is the nose and tail's fairing for the "Energiya" fuel tank. Both VM-Ts were used in 1982-1988 and performed about 150 flights. MAKS 2005
