Originally built as a Lodestar L. 18-56 serial 2234, this aircraft was converted to a Learstar model 18 by Lear Aircraft Engineering Division of Santa Monica, Califonia and issued Lear serial no 19 on 9-10-1956. The owner painted NX18973 in honnor of H. Hughes round-the-world record (but he flew a model 14) in 1938.
