Notes:

East operation in clear sky conditions (which is rare) due to the approaching cold front which changes the prevailing wind direction from onshore to offshore. SAN switches to east ops runway 09 mostly for three reasons -- weather system (cold fronts, rains, etc), the marine layer or fogs (with low visibility and even westerly winds; runway 27 has no ILS), and the Santa Ana wind conditions (dry hot northeasterly winds from the desert; no moisture in the air). Normally east ops are caught with clear skies when the Santa Ana winds prevail. When there is weather the skies are usually overcast. Actually 10 mins after this photo the sun was blocked by the cloud layers from the coast that foreshadowed the approaching wind storm.
