XA-NAT pictured in FAMEX 2023. The aircraft flies for CFE, Mexico’s Federal electricity commission, responsible for managing all electricity infrastructure around the country. This makes it the second most powerful and important state-run company after PEMEX (Oil company.)
In reality, the aircraft is leased by Mexico’s government from a Mexican charter company called “Transportes Aéreos Pegaso”, which has a big fleet of helicopters and aircraft, used mostly by companies for personal transport to offshore oil platforms. Their helicopter fleet consists of only Airbus helicopters: AW-139, EC-175, EC-155, EC-145, EC-135, and the pictured EC-130.
Note: Sadly, this aircraft suffered a fatal accident on the 1st of December 2023, when flying low near an electric substation outside of the small city of Cuautla, Morelos. Reports comment how the aircraft struck a cable, causing the aircraft to collapse onto a field, killing all 3 souls onboard.
