Known locally as “Dirt Pile”(or Dirt Pile West) on Ferguson Rd. Coordinate of the location: 49°12'20.9"N 123°10'55.2"W. You’ll see two small mounds here(about 120m apart) where you can climb up to overlook the north runway and airport in the summer evening and early morning. View is still great if you stay below the mounds. For 26R arrival, you may put the snow-capped Mount Baker behind your aircraft on a clear day. Generally, westbound traffic is good for the evening and eastbound traffic for early morning. The best season at this location is one month within the longest day of the year around June 21th. Heat haze not a problem unless you try to shoot from 2/3 runway distance away. Best to have sun heading WNW in the evening and ENE(or at least E) in the morning. Also good to bring longer reach lens to capture large aircraft’s landing gear tires smoke upon touchdown for both directions. Limited parking close to the gate. Exact parking location and taxi/Uber drop off: 49°12'23.7"N 123°10'54.9"W. Narrow, two-lane road with no shoulder near this location. No washroom nearby. The closest is at McDonald Beach Park. PS. There’s another Dirt Pile East, 600 km east of this spot. Parking a bit difficult. Uber drop off ok.

Ponder!? I usually zoned out here, Val :D especially when there was no action.
This is a good place to watch the planes and to ponder about life.
Obrigado Edu. I met a video guy from Berlin. He's been there for the whole day :D
