Seen starting its taxi roll for a runway 30 departure to Lihue (LIH), a route that had just recently restarted at the time and operated around 0930, well after the HNL, OGG, and KOA flights had departed. OAK has always drawn interesting Hawaii traffic, having become the largest mainland station for Aloha Airlines at one point followed by a major Hawaii hub for American Trans Air (ATA). Alaska Airlines once flew to 4 Hawaiian cities from OAK, but elected not to resume these routes after the pandemic with Southwest having started service to all 4 of those cities plus 1-stop services to Hilo (ITO). With SFO, SMF, and SJC having only HNL and OGG flights from Hawaiian, OAK remains the only airport in the area with Hawaiian Airlines flights to OGG and LIH at the moment.
