American's RenoAir heritage jet seen leaving the ramp of Concourse A headed to runway 34R for departure to Chicago (ORD). Though RenoAir never flew to SMF, RenoAir Express Jetstream 31s, operated by Mid Pacific Airlines, did have a small focus city from SMF flying over the years to SJC, RDD, CIC, ACV, and RNO during their short lifespan in 1994\95. Though named RenoAir, the airline was operationally based in SJC and also had hubs in LAS and LAX. American first began a codeshare with RenoAir in the mid 1990s before acquiring the carrier in 1999. The inherited SJC hub (AA's 2nd attempt at one) and the MD-87s and MD-90s were quickly disposed of in the aftermath of 9\11. Always a pleasure to see this bird in California.
