Notes:

This airframe has one heck of a resume! After construction in early 1944, it was assigned to the 438th Troop Carrier Group, which was one of the first to drop paratroopers in the airborne invasion of Normandy on 6 June 1944. After participating in Operation Overlord, the group was transferred to Italy to provide assistance in preparations for Operation Dragoon (the invasion of Southern France); it was also the first group to drop supplies to the besieged American troops in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. To round out its WWII adventures, it evacuated allied POWs after V-E Day, and in the postwar era, it flew for both Empire Air and West Coast Airlines before being retired and donated to the Evergreen Museum, where it can be seen on display outside the aviation building.
