The La-250 was designed as a high-altitude interceptor but never progressed beyond the five prototypes. The type first flew in 1956 but was cancelled in 1959 after only 21 flights had been made. The droop-nose was a modification fitted improve forward visibility. During flight testing, the type became known as the Anakonda, partly due to its looks but mostly because of its critical flight characteristics. 03 rd displayed as 04 rd at the Air Force Museum.
