If you are looking for photos of a specific aircraft type, use this menu. Please note that, due to space constraints, this menu includes only some of the more requested aircraft in our database.
If the aircraft you're searching for is not in this list, use the 'Keywords' field further down in the search menus.
Some menu selections include a generic aircraft model, as well as more specific variants of that airliner.
These variants are denoted by a - before the aircraft name.
Selecting 'Boeing 747,' for example, will show results featuring all Boeing 747 jetliners in our database, while selecting '- Boeing 747-200' will show all Boeing 747-200 variants in our database (Boeing 747-200, Boeing 747-212B, Boeing 747-283F, etc.)
If you are looking for photos of a specific airline, use this menu.
Please note that, due to space constraints, this menu includes only airlines of which 10 or more photos exist in our database.
If the airline you're searching for is not in this list, use the 'Keywords' field further down in the search menu.
Airlines are listed in alphabetical order.
If you are looking for photos taken in a specific country, or at a specific airport, use this menu.
All countries represented in our database are included in this selection menu, which is updated automatically as the database grows.
There must be at least 20 photos from a specific airport in the database before that airport is added to this list.
Use this option to include only photos taken by a specific photographer in your search.
This pulldown menu, in addition to each photographer available as a search limiter, also shows the number of photos currently in the database for each specific photographer, enclosed in brackets.
For example, an option of: - Paul Jones .. indicates that there are 550 total photos taken by Paul Jones currently in the database.
Note: The total number of photos, enclosed in brackets, is updated four (4) times hourly, and may be slightly inaccurate.
Photographers must have 100 or more photos in the database before their name is included in this selection menu.. The 'All Photographers' selection is the default selection for this option.
If you are looking for a specific category of photo, use this menu.
You may select to display only photos from certain categories, such as Special Paintschemes, Flight Deck photos, etc. New categories are constantly being added to this list.
The 'Keywords' field is perhaps the most useful field included in our search engine. Using this field, you may search for any word, term, or combinations of terms in our database. Every photo field is covered by the Keywords search routine.
The Keywords field is ideal for searching for such specifics as aircraft registrations, photographers' names, specific airport/city names, specific paintschemes (i.e. 'Wunala Dreaming'), etc. To use the Keywords field, begin by selecting a Keyworld search field. You may select either a specific database field (airline, aircraft, etc.), or choose to match your keyword to all database fields.
Next, select a Keyword limiter. There are three options from which to choose: - is exactly - starts with - contains Select the appropriate limiter for your search, then enter the keyword(s) you wish to search in the box on the right.
The Keywords search field is not case-sensitive.
Use this option to include only photos taken in a specific year in your search.
This pulldown menu, in addition to each year available as a search limiter, also shows the number of photos currently in the database for each specific year, enclosed in brackets. For example, an option of: - 2003 .. indicates that there are 55,000 total photos taken in the year 2003 currently in the database. *Note: The total number of photos, enclosed in brackets, is updated four (4) times hourly, and may be slightly inaccurate.
Additionally, decade ranges (1990-1999, etc.) are available as selections in this menu. Selecting a decade range will show all photos matching your other search criteria from the selected decade. The 'All Years' selection is the default selection for this option.
Note: Biman's maintenance base at Dhaka. This hangar was inaugurated in 1990 and was equipped to handle widebody aircraft like the DC-10 (a special frame is still installed inside which could house and provide access to the DC-10's no.2 engine)
Note: [1920 pixel] The aero club hangar is very busy here. The Novo EMB-145 was having a new windscreen fitted. S2-AEL, the ex. Royal Bengal Dash 8 was moved in there a few days earlier from the death corner. It would eventually be worked on...
Note: Looking down the length of the boarding bridge corridor from the last gate, gate 6. All the boarding bridges are to the right while the terminal is on the left. One of the most important rooms in the airport, the Smoking Room' is the small...
Note: Part of the death row and it's inmates at Dhaka. The DC10s have now been scrapped and the Royal Bengal Dash 8 managed to escape to USA after extensive restoration work. I believe the others are still there to date.
Note: An active 777 is parked in between the two retired 310s. Interestingly it appears that there are mixtures of LED and sodium lights on the ramp. The light poles are also different heights;o) Thanks to Karib Ahmed for taking me to this...
Note: Amongst the usual suspects in Dhaka, there was this C-130J that I could not clearly identify. It did not have any writing on it at all other than a small marking on the tail that I could not identify and 869 written in the nose section. ...
Note: Evening soft light on the body of these beauties. The reflection on the water adds to the whole shot beautifully. Sad that they will never taste the sky again. Dedicated to tri-holer/classic jet fans.
Note: Just over four years later, a lot seen on this photo are now gone. The DC10 and the MD80 are now permanent resident of the "death corner" of DAC. Which is seen on the far right. Both the Tristars seen there are now gone. I think one...
Note: A wide angle view of the runway here at VGHS,a Regent 737 just landed on rwy14,the localizer station for rwy32 very dominant in the shot along with the new approach lighting system for rwy14 which has been 'upgraded',literally,as before...
Note: Designed and building work started during the late 60s, but then work was stopped during the independence war during 1971. Finally completed and came into operation during the early 80s. This is the international terminal and closest to...
Note: Three aircraft present here are no longer in Biman fleet. The A310 (S2-AFT) and the DC10 (S2-ACP) have both been retired. The 747 (TF-AMY) was on short term lease for Hajj season so that's also returned back to Atlanta Icelandic and (I...
Note: An overview of the graveyard. In view are-2 L1011s,2 MD80s,2 Dash-8s,2 F28s,a DC10 and an HS748!(behind the United Airways Dash-8)Where else in the world would you expect to get such a mix of frames!
Note: Some call it the "sick bay" of DAC. But now a days it is more like a "death bay". Of the eight aircraft visible in this picture, six of them most probably will never fly again. Only the DC10 in the hanger (S2-ACO) and the A310 in the...
Note: Shot from the door of a Jet AW 737. Almost full ramp, which is norm for around 9 AM every morning. The One-Two-Go 747 was on a short lease to Biman. Next at the gates are the usual Middle Eastern crowd. The Biman F28 seen here being...
