If you are looking for photos of a specific aircraft type, use this menu. Please note that, due to space constraints, this menu includes only some of the more requested aircraft in our database.
If the aircraft you're searching for is not in this list, use the 'Keywords' field further down in the search menus.
Some menu selections include a generic aircraft model, as well as more specific variants of that airliner.
These variants are denoted by a - before the aircraft name.
Selecting 'Boeing 747,' for example, will show results featuring all Boeing 747 jetliners in our database, while selecting '- Boeing 747-200' will show all Boeing 747-200 variants in our database (Boeing 747-200, Boeing 747-212B, Boeing 747-283F, etc.)
If you are looking for photos of a specific airline, use this menu.
Please note that, due to space constraints, this menu includes only airlines of which 10 or more photos exist in our database.
If the airline you're searching for is not in this list, use the 'Keywords' field further down in the search menu.
Airlines are listed in alphabetical order.
If you are looking for photos taken in a specific country, or at a specific airport, use this menu.
All countries represented in our database are included in this selection menu, which is updated automatically as the database grows.
There must be at least 20 photos from a specific airport in the database before that airport is added to this list.
Use this option to include only photos taken by a specific photographer in your search.
This pulldown menu, in addition to each photographer available as a search limiter, also shows the number of photos currently in the database for each specific photographer, enclosed in brackets.
For example, an option of: - Paul Jones .. indicates that there are 550 total photos taken by Paul Jones currently in the database.
Note: The total number of photos, enclosed in brackets, is updated four (4) times hourly, and may be slightly inaccurate.
Photographers must have 100 or more photos in the database before their name is included in this selection menu.. The 'All Photographers' selection is the default selection for this option.
If you are looking for a specific category of photo, use this menu.
You may select to display only photos from certain categories, such as Special Paintschemes, Flight Deck photos, etc. New categories are constantly being added to this list.
The 'Keywords' field is perhaps the most useful field included in our search engine. Using this field, you may search for any word, term, or combinations of terms in our database. Every photo field is covered by the Keywords search routine.
The Keywords field is ideal for searching for such specifics as aircraft registrations, photographers' names, specific airport/city names, specific paintschemes (i.e. 'Wunala Dreaming'), etc. To use the Keywords field, begin by selecting a Keyworld search field. You may select either a specific database field (airline, aircraft, etc.), or choose to match your keyword to all database fields.
Next, select a Keyword limiter. There are three options from which to choose: - is exactly - starts with - contains Select the appropriate limiter for your search, then enter the keyword(s) you wish to search in the box on the right.
The Keywords search field is not case-sensitive.
Use this option to include only photos taken in a specific year in your search.
This pulldown menu, in addition to each year available as a search limiter, also shows the number of photos currently in the database for each specific year, enclosed in brackets. For example, an option of: - 2003 .. indicates that there are 55,000 total photos taken in the year 2003 currently in the database. *Note: The total number of photos, enclosed in brackets, is updated four (4) times hourly, and may be slightly inaccurate.
Additionally, decade ranges (1990-1999, etc.) are available as selections in this menu. Selecting a decade range will show all photos matching your other search criteria from the selected decade. The 'All Years' selection is the default selection for this option.
Note: This fully kitted out EC 145 climbs away from the Heliport today with the backdrop of Paris behind, no doubt in search of some car jackers or other riff raff on the streets of Paris. Shot from the 22nd floor of our hotel as the sun heads...
Note: These lovely old workhorses are destined for the scrap heap and are becoming hard to find in a decent state. This TWA example has been sitting in the hot desert sun for many years and although still looking almost majestic as she once was,...
Note: DHL hasn't put much effort into trying to remove this aircraft's identity before parking her up for the inevitable scrap heap. She looks almost usable with engines attached in the last light of the day.
Note: This lovely old Albatross has seen service with the US Navy and now flys privately mainly in the US but has also been seen a few years ago making the rounds at the UK air shows. I guess she's in town for Aviation Nation 2008. Shot taken...
Note: An ageing TWA L1011 100 series sits in the dry desert heat awaiting her fait. The likely hood of these L10's seeing any kind of service at all post TWA is not overly hopeful. This example has already been striped for spares and parts.
Note: A formation of Eagle 340's sit, stacked here at Kingman airport. A sure sign of the slowing economic times in the aviation industry as these birds were running in and out of DFW some three months prior.
Note: This lovely old Mirage III sits majestically in soft winter light at the Armee de l'Air offices in Paris. The gate guard wasn't to impressed with me taking photos towards the military offices, but my legendary French language skills got me...
Note: A rare overview of Paris Issy-Les-Moulineaux Heliport in action as a VIP Helicopter leaves and other traffic sits on the field awaiting passengers and departure. Photo taken from the Junior Suite on the twenty first floor of our Hotel.
Note: No: 9 - Nigel Lamb pulls back after completing a lap of the Red Bull Air Race 2008 framed by the impressive O2 Arena. The poor weather combines with lots of smoke from the aircraft made for an interesting day's shooting, made slightly more...
Note: Jammu and Kashmir - Air India's newest 777-300 sits bathed in bright sunlight on the far side of the airport at a disappointing static stand as the crowd in the foreground enjoy the air shows flying participants.
Note: The Airbus's phenomenal performance can be seen here as it launches itself away from the active runway here at Farnborough to the crowds amazement and obvious awe with clouds of dust and grass being flung into the crowd. Stunning stuff.
Note: BA flight BA0641 ATH-LHR. Climbing away from Athens we pass over the coastline near the port of Rafina. The inviting turquoise waters of the Mediterranean can be seen stretching out into the distance off our starboard wing as we set out on...
Note: AA 1165 JFK-MIA. Descending into the Miami area we track the coastline before making a sharp right turn to line up with the approach. The Florida coastline can be seen stretched out off our starboard wing. Taken from seat 5J First class.
Note: American Airlines flight 6679 from Manchester touches down in a blaze of smoke right next to me as I shoot her from beside the active here at a gloriously sunny JFK. Some awesome reflections visible in this shiny bird!
Note: BA2223 BDI-LGW. The First Class cabin can be seen here drenched in a warm glow of light as we fly on into the night sky high above the Atlantic on our way home. Loads were fairly good on this sector while I was lucky enough to be sitting...
Note: BA2222 LGW-BDI. As we cruise high over the Atlantic on-route to Bermuda the Club World cabin and service can be seen in a slightly different light. Thought id try a new angle and am fairly pleased with the outcome. Unsurprisingly, loads...
Note: BA2227 LGW-ATL. Making our way across the pond with landfall being a little south of Newfoundland today as the Club World cabin settles in for our 9.5 hour flight to Atlanta. Relatively light loads on this sector meant I once again had the...
