This DC-3 was built in 1942 under the registration N4700C and then converted by Conroy Aircraft in the 1970s, fitting three P&W PT6A turboprop engines. Before Maritime Patrol and Rescue, this aircraft was operated and under the paint scheme of Polair. In 1986 airport workers at Santa Barbara Municipal Airport accidentally started a cockpit fire, a second model of this aircraft was made from the old wreckage.
