Notes:

On display at NMUSAF with a Fritz-X guided bomb under the fuselage. This Fernaufklärer Ju-88 was completed in June 1943. The recce D-1 was similar to the A-4 bomber powered by Jumo 211J engines, but had no dive brakes. It had cameras and additional fuel tanks inside and under the fuselage which increased the range to 5,000 km. The aircraft was delivered to Romania, an ally of Germany. In July 1943 a lone Romanian pilot defected to Cyprus. The Ju-88 was later handed over by the RAF to the USAAF for testing. It is the only surviving ‘D’ model.
