Newly added to Pima Air & Space Museum According to Museum Description: This aircraft was completed on February 25, 1943, at Factory Number 1 in Moscow and delivered to the 7th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet. The 7th Guards fought in the Leningrad area during this time. On January 28, 1944, the aircraft was shot down while attacking German troops. The pilot, Junior Lieutenant Mark.I.I.Andaranov successfully landed the damaged aircraft on frozen Lake Bebro about seventy miles south of Leningrad. He and his gunner Seaman Leonid. T. Grishin both survived and successfully returned to their unit a week later. Once the lake thawed out in the spring the aircraft sank and was recovered in 1992.
