Front Stbd view of the fuselage of Canada Air Force Avro 683 Lancaster Mk X KB976 Cn 277 (in Air Transport Command silver/white /red stripes livery) at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, East Kirkby UK on 10Jul2018. (I previously photographed this fuselage at Brooklands EGLB UK on 12Jul2012). This Lancaster, built by Vickers Canada in 1944 went to the RCAF as KB976. The aircraft was Civil Registered as G-BCOF in 1970, and the forward/ centre fuselage displayed at Brooklands has been reconstructed in ‘Long Nose’ configuration. (The rear fuselage was displayed at the AeroVenture Museum at Doncaster UK.) Note dummy nose turret and faded/cracked nose dome perspex. The Moose logo is applicable to RCAF 419 Squadron which was based at RAF Middleton St George during WWII. This aircraft is virtually ignored at East Kirkby, in favour of resident taxiable RAF 57 Squadron Lancaster Mk.VII NX611 Code DX-C ('Just Jane').
