Notes:

On November 21st, 1973, this US Navy DC-3 was enroute to Hofn, when the aircraft encountered severe icing and could not stay airborne. A successful crash landing was carried out on a frozen river on the south coast of Iceland. I've been planning this photo for a long time. After a 3 Hour drive and a 4 kilometer hike, I arrived at the wreckage of this DC-3 that successfully crash landed here 46 years ago. Despite traveling 30+ hours with little sleep, I decided to embark on the journey that night. Since the next few days are supposed to be overcast, I figured this night is my only chance to catch this view. The wind on the trail was some of the craziest I've experienced, it managed to snap my tripod into two pieces, and kick up minor sandstorms. The next day I found out the south coast of Iceland experienced the strongest gust ever recorded there - 67.9m/s (151.8mph!). In the end it was all definitely worth it.
