This American Navy F-4B Phantom jet was shot down over Thanh Hoa on 12 May 1967. The Phantom was flown by Charles Everett (Ev) Southwick and David John (Jack) Rollins. The Phantom was on a by anti aircraft artillery. The plane came from the USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63) and belonged to squadron VF-114 of US Navy Air Wing CVW-11. The Phantom lamded in the Ma River downstream of Thanh Hoa. The two pilots ejected and were captured near Thanh Hoa and held prisoner until the end of the American War. They were released in 1973.
