By all rights, the TriStars were game-changers that never had a chance to prove it. And not of any faults of their own; either. Thanks to Rolls-Royce's failure to provide the turbines they promised; and the FAA allowing the DC-10's to rewrite the book on tombstone technology, they never had a chace to really prove themselves. I belive it's probably one of the most significant tragedied in commercial aviation in the 20th century. Anyone who has fown in oe as often as I did; would know what I am talking about.
