The reconstructed aircraft on display at the Museum is a composite made up of a number of other airframes. The main part of this is the fuselage of HR792, a 58 Squadron MkII which crashed on Stornoway in January 1945. For the purposes of display the Museum has however painted each side in a different scheme to represent a particular aircraft. In the case of the stardboard side shown this is finished as 'NP763' (H7-N) an aircraft of 346 'Guyenne' Squadron, Free French Air Force. This squadron was one of two French bomber squadrons based at RAF Elvington during WWII.
