The last surviving DC 8 of the 10/20/30/40 series is number 4 of the production line, a series 10,converted by owner United Airlines to a series 20 and donated to the Orbis Project. After conversion to a flying hospital, with an operating room and classroom this DC 8 flew until 1994 to many places in the developing world, bringing sight to many people with eye diseases and bringing tuition to local doctors.
