Delivered American Airlines May 14 1993 as N1766A. Converted to freighter (F) and to Federal Express June 3 2002 as N598FE. There was a short period of time, when FedEx MD-11s were regular visitors at Budapest-Ferihegy, because the freighters took-off from Far East to some Western European destinations flew strong headwind, so they couldn’t make it f.e. to Paris nonstop. Now the FedEx MD-11(F)s make this technical landing in Leipzig, Germany. N598 was observed here as taking-off RWY31L for Paris. Photo taken from T1 terrace, which terminal has closed since.
