On display at Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. The F-105D was the all-weather fighter-bomber version. More than 20,000 combat missions were flown over Vietnam for the loss of 350 aircraft, more than half the F-105s built. Operating from Thailand, F-105s required refueling by KC-135s on the way to their targets. This F-105 has been restored to 421st TFS, 388th TFW markings from Korat. It also served with 355th TFW at Takhli. The ‘D’ led to the F-105F/G, the USAF’s first major SEAD aircraft.
