Notes:

ML796 was the first Sunderland Mk 5 and entered service with the RAF in 1945. In 1951 it was sold to the French Navy who operated from Dakar it until 1960. This Sunderland sea plane was then preserved at the La Beaule cafe in Brittany in France from 1965 for around ten years. It is truly a wonder that ML796 made it to Duxford. She was recovered from France in a poor state in the mid 1970s. The Sunderland had to be transported on five trucks, but first of all the recovery crew had to slice her horizontally as it was too tall to travel on the route chosen.
