This single seater fighter had a glorious past with Indian Air Force. The first Param Veer Chakra (India's highest military decoration award) of IAF was awarded to a Gnat pilot Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon in 1971 for his courageous contribution during 1971 war.
